Braces

Achieve a Straighter Smile with Braces

Girl with braces

If crooked or uneven teeth have you or your child embarrassed to smile, braces are a perfect solution.

To determine your child’s orthodontic needs, we advise that you take them to the orthodontist by the age of 7 for an initial consultation. At that time, an orthodontist can help set your child up on an orthodontic plan.

Treatment time varies depending on each unique case.

Why Take Your Child Early?

The earlier an orthodontist is involved in your child’s care, the more he or she will be able to guide the growth of your child’s teeth and help guide incoming teeth. Some issues that early, proactive treatment can address include:

  • Correcting thumb-sucking
  • Eliminating speech problems or abnormal swallowing
  • Reducing the likelihood of impacted permanent teeth
  • Regulating the width of the upper and lower dental arches
  • Gaining space for permanent teeth
  • Avoiding the need for tooth extractions

Invisalign or Braces?

While Invisalign is a popular choice for adults, braces are typically better-suited for children because they require less discipline. (You can’t accidentally throw your braces away at school, after all!) For more disciplined pre-teens and teens, however, Invisalign Teen is also a great option.
